Problem: Water Pollution

Cause: During the Soviet era, the country dumped pollution (trash)  into the Volga river freely.

Effect: Fish are dying and water is unsafe to drink.

Problem: Decreasing Water Level

Cause: The dams in the Volga river blocks the water which flows downstream.

Effect: Less supply of water and fish population. Unnavigable for big boats.

Problem: Loss of Riparian Zone

Cause: Deforestation and development of cities

Effect: Floods
